2011 Graduation and Awards Ceremony

A gala celebration event

On Monday 19 December 2011, South West TAFE held its annual Graduation and Awards Ceremony for students who had obtained a Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualification. The gala event was hosted in Warrnambool, but involved students and attendees from across south west Victoria – including Portland, Hamilton and Glenormiston. The event featured over 300 graduates and also saw the Institute's Outstanding Students recognised for their achievements. The evening kicked off with the 'Off the Wall' Showcase Parade presented by the Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Students – showing off their skills learnt throughout the year.

According to South West TAFE’s CEO, Mr Joe Piper, the Annual Graduation and Awards Ceremony constitutes an important regional event. "The evening allows us to celebrate those within our community who have worked hard to become more skilled, confident, employable - and ultimately, fulfilled,” Mr Piper remarked. “Within the coming months and years, our graduates will help to enrich the social, cultural and economic fabric of our region. They will help address the skills shortages we are currently experiencing; implement effective practices and technologies and drive our community forward."
