South West TAFE has two sites located in Hamilton, including a site at Hammond Street and a shared facility at the Ballarat Road site with RMIT. The study journey at our Hamilton campuses exposes our students to high-end vocational training and quality education programs which are not only supportive for individuals, but to industries within the wider community.
We have some of the state’s best training facilities, and our dedicated teachers are industry experts with a burning passion for vocational education. Importantly, they are also acutely aware of what savvy employers value.
Access to our teaching and administration staff is easy, and they are most willing to provide the important support and guidance, ensuring every student receives the most from their studies.
If you wish to develop existing skills and knowledge to support a career advancement, or perhaps simply just want to obtain new skills, at our South West TAFE Hamilton campuses, we have a variety of courses designed with the purpose to help you achieve your goals.
The Hammond street site has been part of South West TAFE since 1987 and is an integral part of the Hamilton community. We celebrate a significant history of collaboration with industry, business, local government and the secondary sector and we are proud to have supported the up skilling of our region.
Our current Hammond Street site - located just off the Henty Highway only 3 mins from the CBD - was officially opened in 1993 following a major refurbishment and fit-out of an existing training facility. In 2001, additional funding was obtained to support the growth of training onsite.
With employment opportunities in the health sector booming in the Southern Grampians, we have expanded our health and community services programs to respond to industry needs.
Our newest training site, located at the Ballarat Road, provides training in Nursing and Aged Care.
In the first half of 2012 our Nursing students, followed by our Aged Care students relocated to Ballarat Road. The move gives students access to modern training facilities and has created space for other programs such as Children’s Services to expand at the Hammond Street campus.
The Ballarat Road site gives our students access to wonderful facilities, a great location, and a peaceful learning environment.
Our students have access to state of the art facilities including a simulated clinical lab. Students gain experience in real life scenarios in a hospital like setting which encompasses a 5 bed ward.
With access to practical training facilities including shower facilities, lifting equipment, procedure and medication rooms and a wet lab, our students are work ready on completion of their course.
