South West TAFE’s Scholarship and Awards program is designed to provide our
students with access to scholarships and awards which will assist them with their
studies, reward enthusiasm and commitment to their studies as well as academic or
skills excellence.
Scholarships are offered in various areas throughout the year. These scholarships
will be advertised on the website as they become available.
Outstanding Student Awards
South West TAFE’s Outstanding Students are awarded annually from a field of
finalists who have been nominated by their teachers for outstanding efforts in their
training. These awards are presented at the Institute’s Graduation and
Awards ceremony held in December.
Commemorative Institute Awards
Andy Kinnear Award
This award is presented to an engineering apprentice who displays excellence, a
thirst for knowledge, passion, and a desire to share knowledge and help others.
Brian Smith Award
This award recognises a student who has demonstrated exceptional commitment and
diligence to his/her apprenticeship.
Blackwoods Award
The Blackwoods Award is awarded an engineering student who has overcome complex difficulties
in their life whilst still being able to maintain a high level of focus and application
to their training.
Brian Crichton Endeavour Award
The ‘Brian Crichton Endeavour Award’ is given in recognition of a plumbing
student who has shown perseverance through schooling to overcome obstacles and achieve
their goals.
Sponsored Institute Awards
Deakin University Pathways Award
An annual award of $1000 is made to a South West TAFE graduate who has demonstrated
outstanding qualities in preparing themselves to undertake higher studies towards
a degree from Deakin University.
Warrnambool East Rotary First Year Apprentice Awards
Each year the Warrnambool East Rotary Club supports a South West TAFE first year
apprentice with a financial award to support them in their studies.
Portland Rotary Club Youth Pathways Award
Supporting a young person from the Portland community is the focus of this annual
award, generously provided by the Portland Rotary Club.
