Timetable The course commences with a two-hour virtual induction then you have one to three weeks to complete self-paced online study with scheduled online check-in sessions.

Course Overview

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of building the capacity and
understanding of the workforce to practice safe infection control procedures.

This course is designed for Victorian residents looking to gain health and hygiene knowledge that can be applied in their work where food safety and handling is required, preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Participants will gain a thorough understanding of how infections are spread, ways of preventing the spread of infection and how to protect yourself and others.

What will I Learn?

The course is a mix of online and workplace-based learning and
participants will learn how to:

  • follow standard and additional precautions for infection prevention and control
  • identify infection hazards and assess risks
  • follow procedures for managing risks associated with specific
  • hazards in line with their own workplace policies and procedures.

Participants will gain a knowledge of:

  • Hand hygiene practices
  • Use of personal protective equipment
  • Disposal of contaminated waste
  • Hazard identification, control and reporting
  • Appropriate protocols and responses in the event of an incident
  • Knowledge regarding the basis of infection and transmission.
