Shannon enrolled in the Certificate II in Hairdressing course while she was in Year 10 at Warrnambool College and loved it so much she continued on to study her Certificate III in Hairdressing while in year 11.

She then went on to complete her year 12 studies before gaining a hairdressing apprenticeship at Gloss Hair and Beauty earlier this year.

“I’ve always loved hairdressing but the VET DSS program was so good as it gave you a taste of what the training would be like and also gave you the option to change your mind if you weren’t enjoying it,” she said.

Shannon said VET DSS had given her a great head start with her further studies and she loved that she had been given the opportunity to showcase her work in Pure Academy’s Hair and Beauty Showcase where she took out many awards.

“I would 100 per cent recommend VET DSS to anyone – I’ve just loved it all,” she said.

Shannon said she loved her work in the salon and was so excited that she got to learn something new every day.
