An apprenticeship in electrotechnology has opened up many career opportunities for Darcy Hobbs.

/ Success Story
I grew up on a dairy farm and while at school I enjoyed subjects like engineering and physics so thought electrical would be a good field for me.

After finishing Year 12, I had planned to take a gap year and go to university, but I decided instead to start an apprenticeship — and it’s turned out to be the right choice for me.
I like the diverse range of things you can do in electrical. Every day is different which is really enjoyable. Trade school is always varied too as we have a mix of residential and commercial apprentices. The teachers are great and are always available to help.
I would recommend anyone interested in the electrical field to give it a go – there are so many different things you can do.
