Andrew loves the hands-on learning style of a building apprenticeship

/ Success Story
Andrew Chambers has embraced the opportunity to turn his building labourer’s job into an apprenticeship.

I had been working as a labourer for a Colac company when they started taking on more work building modular homes.

I was offered a building apprenticeship and I jumped at it.

Carpentry had always interested me from a young age, having grown up with my grandpa who was a builder, so this was the perfect opportunity for me.

I now work for CMTP Colac and really enjoy that I am getting experience in building all aspects of the modular homes.

I am studying the Certificate III in Carpentry at South West TAFE’s Colac Trade Training Centre and love that I don’t have to travel for trade school.

I’m only six months into my apprenticeship and so far I’m really enjoying the hands-on style of learning and the one-on-one attention we get from our teachers.

Building is a great trade to get into and can lead to so many different opportunities. I would definitely recommend giving it a go.
