Arts course reignites Jennifer's passion for creativity

/ Success Story
Sitting in on an art class through a work placement unexpectedly sparked Jennifer Brown’s passion for creativity.

My passion for art started when I had the pleasure of sitting in on a visual arts class at South West TAFE as an employment requirement.

During that time, I discovered how encouraging the teachers were and the amazing creative environment that was on offer.

When I was no longer employed to work in the class, I quickly began to miss the course and decided to join myself.

Being surrounded by like-minded students and seeing their work evolve
inspired my creativity even more. I managed to create things I never thought possible, and got to sell some of my work alongside classmates in the end of year art exhibition.

I didn’t study visual arts in Year 12 at school, so this course allowed me to better round out my skills, gain more confidence and discover new things.

Photography was entirely new to me and I was excited to learn how to use a camera properly. I was also surprised by how these skills could be used across different forms of art.

I’ve discovered that I would like to pursue illustration. I had a love for creating comic strips in secondary school and this course has reignited that passion to illustrate children’s books and comic strips.

I plan to pursue further studies within the art field in the future.

I absolutely recommend this course to anyone who enjoys art, even if you don’t know what you want to do yet. The visual arts course is a goldmine of information and it could open up your mind to something new.
