Chester builds a rewarding career in carpentry

/ Success Story
What started as a week of work experience has grown into a rewarding career for Chester Willder.

I always knew I wanted to work in a trade field and since completing a week of work experience in carpentry with my now boss, Craig Collins, I haven’t looked back.

I’m now a third-year carpentry apprentice and love what I do.

I really enjoy the people in the building industry and the sense of achievement that comes with each job. It’s rewarding to look back at the end of the day and see what you’ve completed.

I love the teachers at trade school. The amount of knowledge you can learn from them is endless.

They’ve all worked in the industry for years and it’s good to pick their brains and learn from them.

In the future, I’m planning to continue my studies with a Certificate IV in Building and Construction and look at becoming a registered builder and start my own business.

My advice for someone wanting to start a building apprenticeship would be to go for it.

It’s an amazing industry and we need more people in it.
