VET DSS helps Macey pursue an agribusiness career

/ Success Story
A Certificate II in Agriculture is helping Macey Porter towards her goal of a career in agribusiness.

This course was recommended to me by friends who had already
completed an agriculture course through the VET Delivered to Secondary Students program.

The program is great in that it allows me to continue my Year 12 studies and then come to SWTAFE every Thursday afternoon for my agriculture course.

I love the agriculture industry as there are so many amazing opportunities that can take you anywhere. I also love milking cows
and watching how the farm has evolved since I was young.

During my course I have learnt new farming techniques and expanded my knowledge on other farming enterprises.

We had great teachers and I enjoyed that there was a mix of theory and practical training that is current and relevant to the industry.

When I complete Year 12, I am planning on studying a Bachelor of
Agribusiness at university. I want to be able to use the skills and knowledge from both SWTAFE and university to contribute to the growing agriculture industry.

My advice to anyone studying is to try to gain as much practical experience as possible during the course, so you can have a deep
understanding of the theory.
