Textile & Fibre Art - An Introduction

This course provides a hands-on introduction to the world of textile and fibre arts.

Exploring a range of techniques that will take you from exploratory samples to completed artworks.

Suitable for beginners and those looking to expand their skills, this course opens the door to endless possibilities in contemporary textile and fibre art.

By the end of this course, you’ll have the confidence and skills to create a series of original textile and fibre artworks. Through hands-on guidance, you will explore:

• 3D Felting Techniques
  Learn to sculpt wool fibres into three-dimensional forms.
• Creative Dyeing Methods
  Experiment with natural eco-printing and Shibori resist dyeing to produce distinctive colours, patterns, and textures.
• Contemporary Hand Stitching
  Develop modern stitching techniques suitable for both fabric and paper.
• Textile Sculpture
  Discover how to build and shape fibre-based materials into a dynamic 3-dimensional sculpture.

To enrol in this course, you must be at least 16 years old.

For this course, you will need:

• Pen and notepaper
• Sewing kit: Scissors, pins, sewing needles
• Small amounts of Fabric (can be scraps)
• Embroidery Threads  
• Apron
• Rubber gloves
• Wear sturdy shoes

This short course does not include accredited units and training.

• Over the phone: we will call you to take EFTPOS payment over the phone using your credit or debit card.

• Authority to Invoice: if you nominate a third party (such as your employer) to cover your course cost, we will email you an Authority to Invoice form.
