Civil Construction Plant Operator

This course will give you the skills and knowledge in the operation of up to 4 types of machinery - skid loaders, articulated front end loaders, rollers and you can pick either excavator or backhoe.

Through a combination of classroom learning and practical training our experienced trainers will teach you to operate and work with heavy earthmoving machinery on a simulated worksite.

On successful completion of this course you will receive certificates of competency for the use of rollers, skid steer loaders, wheeled loader operations and one of excavator or backhoe.

Successful completion of this course will give you the skills to operate earthmoving machinery. You will receive a certificate of competency for the units you successfully complete.

You may continue furthering your skills in this field with a Certificate III in Civil Construction.

You must be at least 18 years of age to enrol in this course.

Core Units

This course involves accredited units.  You will be required to complete assessment tasks to demonstrate your underpinning knowledge, skills and attributes to meet the course outcomes.  A combination of written, oral and practical assessment strategies will be used in either a classroom, online or workplace environment. 

Where units require demonstration of skills in a workplace environment, you will have the opportunity to do this either in your own workplace (where appropriate), through a practical placement, or by using one of the Institute's simulated workshops/classrooms.  Detailed information about the types, conduct and dates of assessments will be provided in advance.  You will also be provided with information about the opportunity for reassessment and appeal.
