“I have always loved working with children and watching them grow and my studies have helped me to step up to new roles,” she said.

Joy was working at Kardinia Childcare Centre in Dennington when she decided to undertake her traineeship in Early Childhood Education and Care through South West TAFE.

She completed her diploma in 2017 and loved the knowledge she gained from doing the course.

Joy has now stepped up to room leader and assistant for the kinder two days a week.

“I love my job and building relationships with the children. I learnt so much at TAFE and it’s really made me grow.

“The opportunity to work and study at the same time was also appealing and I always knew that help was just a phone call away,” she said.

Joy is considering furthering her studies with a bachelor degree at university but is just loving what she’s doing at the moment.

She said anyone with a passion for children should definitely consider the childcare industry which was so enjoyable and rewarding.
