We are taking expressions of interest for VCE Vocational Major at our Warrnambool, Portland and Hamilton campuses in 2023.
The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) is Victoria’s senior secondary qualification. It opens pathways to university, higher-level TAFE or VET certificate courses, apprenticeships, traineeships and the workforce.
The VCE is expanding to include the Vocational Major, a two-year vocational and applied learning program. It will replace Senior and Intermediate VCAL from 2023.
The VCE Vocational Major will develop your personal and practical life skills. It will help to prepare you for the next important stage of your life.
You will apply knowledge and skills in practical settings such as workplaces. You’ll do community-based activities and projects that involve working in a team. You can also receive credit for on-the-job learning.
Your teachers will assess your progress through a range of activities. You won’t receive a study score for the VCE Vocational Major subjects, which means these subjects won’t count towards an ATAR. This is because there are no external assessments, apart from the General Achievement Test and in some scored VCE VET programs.
Most students will finish their VCE Vocational Major over two years. When you’ve completed your course, you will receive a Victorian Certificate of Education with the additional words ‘Vocational Major’.
We are taking expressions of interest for a course that will prepare you for study at a tertiary level.
Expressions of interest are being taken for a six-month course delivered through a combination of virtual classes and monthly workshops at the Warrnambool campus. This course develops your academic reading, writing and research skills, and your ability to use a range of technologies in tertiary learning scenarios. You will learn about the study requirements of higher education programs, and gain a deeper understanding of tertiary application processes. You will also develop your own personal study plan and portfolio to broaden your opportunities with higher education programs.
