Begin a rewarding career in massage or further develop your skills and qualifications with the Diploma of Remedial Massage.
You will learn a wide variety of remedial massage techniques and athlete-related skills as well as how to assess clients presenting with soft tissue dysfunction, musculoskeletal imbalance or restrictions in range of motion. You will learn in a practical and hands-on learning environment. This course enables you to obtain the skills required for employment as a Remedial Massage Therapist in a variety of different work environments, to even running their own business.
The Pure Academy Massage Clinic component also provides invaluable practical hands-on workplace experience in a supervised setting, allowing you to develop confidence and integration of various techniques as they learn to assess and treat clients.

You will strengthen these skills throughout the course enabling you to successfully apply them in a real clinic environment.
Upon completion of this course, you will have acquired the skills and knowledge to become a qualified Remedial Massage Therapist.
You will be skilled to be able to start-up or further develop your own business, gain employment within a multi-disciplinary clinic, aged care, allied health or sports club.
This course offers a pathway to further your study at university level.
You will be required to undertake 200 hours of clinical placement.
At least 150 hours of this placement must be supervised and will take place in the South West TAFE Pure Academy massage clinic on Monday or Wednesday evenings, or other workplaces during the supervised class time.
The additional 50 hours may be completed in your own time in a range of settings including in sporting clubs, with family and friends as clients or volunteering at events.
There is also a full day wet lab excursion to Melbourne conducted in the mid-semester break.

You are required to obtain a police check and a Working With Children Check prior to starting the course. The impact of any disclosures will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
You will be required to have completed year 12, Certificate IV or higher level qualification or demonstrate an ACSF level of three.
You must also be at least 17 years of age to apply for this course.
To be eligible for this qualification you must successfully complete 21 units, 16 core and 5 elective.

This course involves accredited units. You will be required to complete assessment tasks to demonstrate your underpinning knowledge, skills and attributes to meet the course outcomes. A combination of written, oral and practical assessment strategies will be used in either a classroom, online or workplace environment.
Where units require demonstration of skills in a workplace environment, you will have the opportunity to do this either in your own workplace (where appropriate), through a practical placement, or by using one of the Institute's simulated workshops/classrooms. Detailed information about the types, conduct and dates of assessments will be provided in advance. You will also be provided with information about the opportunity for reassessment and appeal.
Once you have applied for your chosen course, you will receive a thank you email from South West TAFE with a few steps to help process your enrolment.
