Procurement

South West TAFE is committed to ensuring that our Procurement Policy and Guidelines align with the Victorian Government Purchasing Board (VGPB) supply policies and directives established under the Financial Management Act 1994 (VIC).

The fundamental objective of the framework is to ensure that SWTAFE procurement activities achieve value for money, follow best practice procedures, adhere to probity guidelines and achieve the best social procurement outcomes.

State purchasing contracts and supplier registers

As a Victorian Public Sector Agency, South West TAFE is mandated to purchase goods and services via State Purchasing Contracts (SPCs) and supplier registers or directories established by VGPB.

These whole of Victorian Government contracts, panels, registers, or directories have been designed to streamline procurement activities enabling SWTAFE to make the most of economies of scale when buying from the marketplace and reduce many risks by accessing pre-negotiated contract terms and conditions.

The benefits of state purchase contracts include:

  • better value for money using the State’s buying power
  • supply and service continuity
  • reduced risks through pre-negotiated contract terms and conditions
  • improved quality assurance
  • efficiency gains through a standard and consistent approach
  • increased accountability and governance
  • improved contract monitoring and reporting
  • ability to drive continuous improvement
  • access for suppliers through competitive tender processes.
