Mechanical Engineering apprentice Giordan Serra was named Apprentice of the Year at South West TAFE’s annual Trades Awards night on Thursday October 15.

The Trades Awards celebrate the dedication, skill and achievements of apprentices across the automotive, carpentry, cabinet making, electrical, engineering, and plumbing industries, drawing more than 270 attendees to celebrate their success.

Winning the overall award, Giordan, who is employed by Niflex Engineering in Warrnambool, was recognised for his hard work, enthusiasm and dedication to his studies.

South West TAFE Chief Executive Officer Mark Fidge said it was important to acknowledge the talent, dedication and skills being developed by students throughout the region.

“These awards shine a spotlight on the incredible work being done by our trades students and their employers right here in our community,” he said.

Mr Fidge said he was proud to recognise this year’s apprentices and celebrate their efforts and achievements.

“The achievements of our award winners are a great example of what can be accomplished through dedication and persistence, and I hope they inspire others to follow in their footsteps,” he said.
