This short course will teach you basic skills to perform a range of home maintenance jobs.
What will I Learn?
During this short course you will learn skills including how to:
• find a fixing in a wall or find a timber stud • fix a hole in a plasterboard wall • hang a picture or shelf • paint and cut in to corners • replace a broken floor or wall tile and repair grout • fix a sticky door or replace a broken door handle • mix concrete or mortar • create a deck or repair decking boards • use silicon or caulking to fill gaps.

How do I pay for the short course?
Booking your short course is easy and starts online. Once you've completed your online booking, you can choose from the following convenient payment options:
Online: pay securely via our online payment portal.
Over the phone: we will call you to take EFTPOS payment over the phone using your credit or debit card.
In person: visit your nearest campus to pay by card.
Authority to Invoice: if you nominate a third party (such as your employer) to cover your course cost, we will email you an Authority to Invoice form.
Withdrawals, Refunds and Course Date Changes

Please note that a Statement of Attainment, qualification or card cannot be issued if there are fees outstanding.
How to book for a short course
There are 5 simple steps when booking a short course with us.
Book – Book online and complete our enrolment details at swtafe.edu.au
Verify – You will be asked to verify your identity online as part of the booking process.
Pay – Pay online, in person, over the phone, or request an invoice for third-party payment.
Assessment – Some courses require a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment. We’ll let you know if it’s needed.
Attend – Once confirmed, we’ll email all the course details and any pre-reading required.

This is Free TAFE course. Free TAFE is a Victorian Government program that covers tuition fees for priority courses for students who are eligible for government-subsidised training. There may still be some costs like course materials, uniform or excursions applicable to the course you select.
A Free TAFE Pathways Program is a group of courses that complement each other to help you continue to train for the career and industry you may wish to work in.
