Introduction
This course provides you with a set of skills designed to equip you in hygienic practices and handling food safely during the storage, preparation, display, service, and disposal of food.
Victorian Government regulations require all Class 1 and some Class 2 premises to designate a food safety supervisor who is required to be certified as competent in the minimum competencies for their sector through a registered training organisation. This skill set satisfies the Hospitality sector requirements.
This skill set is for experienced food handlers who directly handle food during the course of their daily work activities including those working as cooks, chefs, caterers, kitchen hands and food and beverage attendants.
If you have already completed accredited safe food handling units (including the Safe Food Handling short course SITXFSA005), you may be eligible to apply for credit transfer for these units, reducing the days you will be required to complete of this skill set.
The course is delivered through a combination of on campus classes, online self-directed study and practical assessments on campus and in another suitable venue.
