COVID 19 Update

When will students return to campus?

As of Monday 1 November 2021, students will start to return to campus. Your teaching department will be in contact if you are to return to campus this week, otherwise your classes will continue in the virtual classroom as your timetable until otherwise advised.

New mandatory vaccination requirements for all Students on South West TAFE campuses

The Victorian Government have confirmed, from 6pm 29 October 2021, that all SWTAFE students attending a campus will be required to be fully vaccinated to attend onsite learning at SWTAFE, or a student placement.

In following the new Government protocols, students who cannot provide the required vaccination evidence will not be allowed on-site at any campuses. COVID Marshals will be circulating at SWTAFE campuses and may ask to see your vaccination status.

South West TAFE places a high priority on the health and safety of all of our students and staff, and vaccination is the best way to protect yourself and others in our community.

What information do students need to now provide to SWTAFE?

To ensure SWTAFE complies with the new regulations, all on-campus students are required to submit a copy of their COVID-19 vaccination record to SWTAFE prior to coming on-site for any classes.

If you will be attending classes on campus, you are required to submit:

  • your COVID-19 digital certificate, or
  • your Immunisation history statement demonstrating your vaccination or
  • a certificate from your doctor outlining a medical exemption from vaccination.

This vaccination requirement does not apply to school students undertaking courses at TAFEs or attending for exams. This includes VCE, VCAL, and VET DSS delivery.

How to access your COVID-19 vaccination record

You can access your COVID-19 digital certificate or immunisation history statement by logging into your MyGov account and ensuring your health services are linked. You can then access this information in the History and statements section of the Medicare services.

Please note: all medical information submitted by you will be stored by SWTAFE in accordance with the relevant privacy legislation. SWTAFE will only collect, hold and disclose Vaccination Information as necessary to comply with its obligations under the Mandatory Vaccination Directions issued by the Chief Health Officer under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act.

How do students provide their vaccination information to SWTAFE?

Before you attend a SWTAFE campus you will need to provide evidence of vaccination via one of the three following ways:

Option 1.
Upload evidence of your vaccination online here.

Option 2.
If you don’t wish to upload you can confidentially email your vaccination evidence to studentinfo@swtafe.edu.au

Option 3.
Attend your nearest campus and register your vaccination information with one of our team members. You can register at the following sites at each campus:

  • Warrnambool Campus - South West Skills and Jobs Centre
  • Portland Campus - Customer Service
  • Hamilton Campus - Customer Service
  • Colac Campus - Customer Service
  • Sherwood Park – Customer Service
  • Glenormiston/Noorat
  • Industry Skills Centre, Warrnambool

Thank you for your continuing to support your educators and peers during this time.

We will strive to ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of all students and staff while supporting you to complete your qualification, and we really look forward to having our SWTAFE community back on campus.
