Start your journey into the health and wellness industry with the Certificate IV in Massage Therapy. This entry-level qualification provides the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to work as a professional massage therapist.
Through hands-on learning in a practical learning environment, combined with online learning, you will learn a variety of massage techniques designed to promote relaxation, improve well-being, and support clients’ health.
This course prepares you for employment in a range of settings, including wellness centres, spas, clinics, and fitness facilities. It also provides the foundational skills needed to start and manage your own massage therapy business.

Tuesdays 9am - 4.30pm at the Pure Academy
Wednesday evenings 5.30pm - 6.30pm via virtual classroom. A teacher is available online from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm to provide additional support, answer questions, and assist students with their learning.
Weekend Workshops (optional)
In addition to weekly classes, you will have the opportunity to participate in one 5-hour weekend workshop session each term. These sessions are designed to strengthen practical skills, consolidate knowledge, and provide additional supervised clinic experience.
*Virtual classroom - a live online teaching and learning environment where teachers and students can present course materials, engage, interact, and work in groups together.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be equipped with skills to gain employment as a massage therapist providing general health maintenance treatments in a therapeutic environment. You may also be self-employed as a massage therapist or work within a larger health service.
Upon completion of this course, you may choose to further develop your skills and knowledge by completing the Diploma of Remedial Massage.

PLEASE NOTE: Students must be able to demonstrate the physical capabilities to follow the DRSABCD principles in line with ARC guidelines including:
* Performed at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor
* Performed at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles both compressions and ventilations) on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface
To be eligible to be awarded this qualification you must successfully complete 13 units: 10 core and 3 elective units.
During this course, you will be required to have close and physical contact with another person to practice massage therapy techniques.

This course involves accredited units. You will be required to complete assessment tasks to demonstrate your underpinning knowledge, skills and attributes to meet the course outcomes. A combination of written, oral and practical assessment strategies will be used in either a classroom, online or workplace environment.
Where units require demonstration of skills in a workplace environment, you will have the opportunity to do this either in your own workplace (where appropriate), through a practical placement, or by using one of the Institute's simulated workshops/classrooms. Detailed information about the types, conduct and dates of assessments will be provided in advance. You will also be provided with information about the opportunity for reassessment and appeal.
