This is a rewarding, creative course which gives you the opportunity to enter the barbering industry with confidence, passion and flair.
Working hands-on in our salons you will learn all aspects of barbering including cutting, men’s grooming, shaving heads and faces, maintaining beards and moustaches along with free access to up-to-date workshops with our industry partners. The course will provide opportunity for plenty of experience with clients, working in both the Pure Academy and Pure Living salons with real clients.
This course allows students to perform a full range of barber services including client consultation and advice, hair and scalp treatments, men’s haircutting, shaving, men’s grooming services, freehand clipper techniques and creating haircuts using tracks and carving.
This course is the standard entry level qualification for the Barbering Industry. On completion of this course, you can gain employment in a barbershop or hairdressing salon.
You may also choose to study a complimentary industry related course such as SHB30416 Certificate III in Hairdressing.
During this course, you will undertake salon work placement within the Pure Academy hair salon and the Pure Living Hair and Beauty Barber Shop at Lyndoch Living. You may also be required to supply some models for assessments.

To be eligible for this qualification, you must successfully complete 26 units: 21 core and 5 elective.

This course involves accredited units. You will be required to complete assessment tasks to demonstrate your underpinning knowledge, skills and attributes to meet the course outcomes. A combination of written, oral and practical assessment strategies will be used in either a classroom, online or workplace environment.
Where units require demonstration of skills in a workplace environment, you will have the opportunity to do this either in your own workplace (where appropriate), through a practical placement, or by using one of the Institute's simulated workshops/classrooms. Detailed information about the types, conduct and dates of assessments will be provided in advance. You will also be provided with information about the opportunity for reassessment and appeal.

There are 4 different rates of tuition fees. Only one will apply to you (depending on your eligibility and circumstances).

Course fee funding is made available to eligible individuals by the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments. If funding is utilised, this may affect opportunities to access additional funding in the future. An accurate quote for this course will be provided during the enrolment process.
